Dialogue parts (322). VIII. Lyrics (3). Production materials for Strauss's "Der Zigeunerbaron" and its English adaptation "The gypsy baron." The scores include a holograph copy in 3 vols. (Cranz, n.d.), although vol. 3 (Act III) is lacking, and a manuscript score of the Finale only. The vocal scores were also published by Cranz (Hamburg, 1887?) and most are heavily annotated, including manuscript English translation. The vocal parts include manuscript, holograph, and mimeo versions in English, some with handwritten German text, and manuscript and holograph versions in German. The chorus parts are likewise in German, English, or both; all are holographs. The English promptbooks include mimeos and typed versions (one listing the cast for the Casino, New York; one which is annotated as a stage manager's guide; and one identifying the Philadelphia Operatic Society). The German librettos were published by Goldmann (New York, 1893) and the two English editions were published by Conried (1886), one for the Casino, the other for the Conried English Opera Co. Dialogue parts represent at least 24 sets, many incomplete, and are either typed or mansucript, in German or English. There are three distinct copies of lyrics, two in English, one in German. Many items in the collection bear the stamp of the Thalia Theatre, N.Y.
